Well I thought I'd have my follow up Feminism post done by now, but the week has been a full one. Coughs, colds and school activities, have taken precedence over all else.
So, thought I'd just put my 2 cents in about the SAG Awards, which will be on this Sunday.
There are plenty of predictions, so I won't do that, but I will share three of my picks and why I chose them.
For Cast in a Motion Picture category: Hidden Figures
Brilliant film, and one everyone should see it for historical reasons alone. The entire cast, did a phenomenal job of portraying subtle as well as overt racism. It also captures the space fever that was so prevalent in the late 60's.
Then,
Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are my picks for their respective categories, for their outstanding performances in La La Land.
I loved La La Land, for the 2 hrs and 8 minutes that it took me out of reality, and made me smile for nearly every minute. I loved that I didn't have to think; just enjoy the entertainment delivered by to two outstanding talents.
All of the performances in the other films were outstanding no question. But not only were Stone's and Gosling's performances outstanding, they transported the viewer to a realm of hope, where the other films were convincing reminders of our very real reality.
Good luck to all, and have a pleasant weekend.
